1. Why didn't my installer make the floor registers for me?

Because it is a very involved process for a seemingly simple looking product. It would take your installer a long time and plenty of patience to:

  1. Measure and cut each of the slots in such a fragile material.
  2. Apply fiberglass to the back for needed strength.
  3. Profile and polish all four edges using 6 to 8 sanding steps going from course to fine.
  4. Apply a damper to control air flow.
Metro Marble Restoration has automated most of the steps involved that is how we are able to sell our air vents at such a reasonable price.

2. Can a flush mount floor register be installed into an existing floor?

Yes, but it would be advisable to hire a professional tile installer. Instructions can be found on our HOW TO INSTALL A REGISTER IN AN EXISTING FLOOR.

3. What sizes can be made using my tiles?

2.25"x10"          4"x10"          6"x10"

2.25"x12"          4"x12"          6"x12"

                          4"x14"

Individual cut pieces Should be 2-inches larger than the register size.

Example: A 4"x10" register we will need a piece no smaller than 6"x12".
A 4"x12" register we will need a piece no smaller than 6"x14" or
a 12"x12" tile (we will cut and glue on end pieces to make it 14" long).
Nothing smaller than a 12" length piece can be used.
All unused piece will not be returned.

6. If I buy a ready made floor register will it match my stone floor?

Stone is a product of nature and varies in shade and color even in the same variety. So your chances for a perfect match are not very likely.
It would be better to send us a piece/s of your tile/s for a perfect match.

7. Can other materials be fabricated? Such as ceramic, porcelain or slate.

Yes, but the color of any cut edge will be the same as the back of the tile.
Outer edges do not show on flush mount style registers.
